TRIPOLI -- A total of 98 candidates, including two females, have submitted applications for the first direct presidential election in Libya as the application ended on Tuesday.

Emad Al-Sayeh, Chairman of the High National Elections Commission, on Tuesday told a press conference in Tripoli that 98 people have submitted applications for presidential candidacy, and a primary list of candidates will be published in two days. (Libya-Presidential-Elections)

TEHRAN -- Iran and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) on Tuesday announced that they have agreed to continue their negotiations and cooperation in the areas of common concerns.

IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi on Tuesday met with Mohammad Eslami, the chief of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI), and Hossein Amir Abdollahian, the Iranian foreign minister. (Iran-IAEA-Agreement)

CAIRO -- The Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) approved 360 million U.S. dollars in financing for Egypt, according to a statement by Egypt's Minister of International Cooperation Rania al-Mashat on Tuesday.

"The AIIB's funds will help boost Egypt's recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic and promote economic and structural reform programs," al-Mashat added. (AIIB-Egypt-Loan)

KUWAIT CITY -- Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah was appointed on Tuesday as Kuwait's new prime minister, the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) said.

Kuwaiti Crown Prince Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah issued an order on behalf of the emir, appointing Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah to form a new government and provide a list of names for approval. (Kuwait-New PM)
