Kuwaiti army announces interception of "hostile" missile, drone attacks

KUWAIT CITY, May 28 (Xinhua) -- The Kuwaiti army announced on Thursday that its air defenses had intercepted "hostile" missile and drone attacks a short while earlier.

In a statement posted on its X account, the General Staff of the Kuwaiti Army said that any explosion sounds heard were the result of air defense systems intercepting the "hostile" attacks.

The army also urged the public to follow security and safety instructions issued by the relevant authorities.

Air raid sirens sounded across Kuwait at 5:22 a.m. local time (0222 GMT), marking the first such alert heard in the country in a long time.
